What are the main applications of PBTCA?

PBTCA (2 – Phosphonobutane – 1,2,4 – tricarboxylic Acid) has the following main applications:

 

  • Water treatment: It is widely used in circulating cooling water systems and oilfield injection systems. It can chelate with metal ions such as calcium and magnesium in water to prevent the formation of scale, improve heat exchange efficiency, and reduce equipment maintenance and cleaning costs. In addition, PBTCA can form a protective film on the metal surface, play a role in corrosion inhibition, and extend the service life of equipment. It also has good dispersion properties, which can improve the dispersibility of water, and make the suspended matter in the water easy to settle and filter.
  • Textile and dyeing industry: It is used as a chelating agent and a dispersing agent. It can complex with metal ions in dyes, improve the stability and solubility of dyes, and thus improve the dyeing effect. At the same time, PBTCA can improve the dispersibility of dyes, make the dyes distribute more evenly on the fibers, and improve the quality of dyed products.
  • Paper – making industry: It can be used as a dispersing agent and a retention agent. It can effectively disperse fibers and fillers in pulp, improve the uniformity and smoothness of paper. At the same time, PBTCA can complex with metal ions in pulp, improve the retention rate of fillers, and reduce filler loss.
  • Petrochemical industry: It can be used as a carrier and stabilizer for metal catalysts. In addition, PBTCA can also be used as a lubricating oil additive to improve the antioxidant performance and anti – wear performance of lubricating oil.

 

In addition, PBTCA can also be used as a chelating agent and metal detergent in the detergent industry

. It can also be used in industrial products such as polymers, coatings, and adhesives to improve product performance. In the biomedical field, PBTCA has certain biological activity and may be used in drug research and development, biological probes, and other fields.
