What are the roles and uses of edtmps?
Ethylenediamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid (EDTMP) is an important organic phosphate compound with a variety of roles and uses, the following are its main application areas:
Industrial water treatment
– Corrosion and scale inhibition: EDTMP is a kind of cathodic corrosion inhibitor of methylenephosphonic acid, and the corrosion inhibition rate is 3 to 5 times higher than that of inorganic polyphosphates. It still has good scale inhibition at 200℃, which can effectively inhibit the deposition of metal ions and scale formation in the water systa.
– Compound use: EDTMP can be compounded with polymaleic anhydride to effectively reduce the rate of scale formation. In addition, it can also be compounded with sodium gluconate for cleaning and treatment of metal surfaces.
Electronic industry
– Saiconductor chip cleaning: High purity grade EDTMP can be used as a cleaning agent for saiconductor chips, used in the manufacture of integrated circuits. It can effectively raove grease and impurities from metal surfaces.
Pharmaceutical industry
– Radioactive Elaent Carrying Agent: EDTMP can be used as a carrying agent of radioactive elaents in the field of medicine for the examination and treatment of diseases.
Other applications
– Metal ion chelation: EDTMP has a h3 ability to chelate metal ions, and the complexation constant with copper ions is the largest among all chelating agents. It can replace almost all occasions that use EDTA as chelating agent.
– Cyanide-free plating: EDTMP can be used as a complexing agent for cyanide-free plating.
– Textile printing and dyeing: In textile printing and dyeing industry, EDTMP can be used as chelating agent and oxygen bleaching stabilizer.
Properties and safety
– Chaical properties: EDTMP is white crystalline powder at room taperature, melting point 215～217℃, slightly soluble in water, but the solubility is less than 5% at room taperature, easily soluble in ammonia. It has good chaical and thermal stability.
– Safety: EDTMP is non-toxic, the oral LD50 for rats is 6900mg/kg, and the irritation to skin and eyes is low.
